We naturally tend to avoid unfamiliar situations and environments in which we feel our skills may not be sufficient, where we fear failure, vulnerability or embarrassment.
While this may seem perfectly normal, avoiding new concepts, unfamiliar environments and situations that require different ways of thinking and additional effort also means avoiding opportunities to learn.
Learning takes place beyond the comfort zone we have built through our past experiences — beyond the boundaries of what feels familiar and safe. It requires us to challenge our habits, confront our fears and embrace new experiences.
